Attempting to upgrade from 10.9.5 to El Capitan 10.11.4 the system tells me it needs 10.11 - not mentioning which release, and in addition I am not able to find any location that allows uploading an interim version.

Eau Rouge is right, I downloaded the full 10.11.4 dmg and after unpacking etc. I got this message that 10.11 is needed to update to 10.11.4 - which I thought means some previous releases like 10.11.1, .2 or .3 ... So I stopped it. This cannot be just a warning message telling me what I am about to do anyway, I mean we don't talk about Windows...
This seems to be the point: My current version is 10.9.5, so I assume that I need to update first to a 10.10.x and then to an early 10.11.version.1.2.or .3. But I don't find any download source for these.
The version currently available on the App Store (6.4) requires Yosemite or later, but if you're a registered developer, you can log in at developer.apple.com/downloads/, where all current and older downloads are posted. I'm not sure exactly how far back you'll need to go in order to find a version that runs on 10.9.5, but everything is there.

I'm trying to connect a Windows 10 (Home) PC with a Mac OS 10.9.5 (Maverick). According to the following link, I am supposed to be using, "OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) TeamViewer 9-12." -Base/Which-operating-systems-are-supported/ta-p/24141
I have a mac os x 10.9.5 with Teamviewer version 12.0.2, it seems it's the last update available for this mac. On the Windows 10 PC I had the last Teamviewer version. I couldn't connect to the pc from the mac, and a thread here said I need to have the same version or older on the pc to be able to connect from the mac. So I downloaded version 12.0.2 to the PC. Still can't connect because now it says I'm using an old version on the pc. Can someone please advice?
